Human Rights-Based Approaches to Protracted Conflicts – Policy Brief

Published: 26th May 2023

Following our event on Human Rights-Based Approaches to Protracted Conflicts on March 27th, Glasgow team member Dr. Giedre Jokubauskaite and Berlin team members Dr. Andreas Buser and Sofie-Marie Terrey prepared a policy brief outlining the main debates, outcomes, and recommendations that emerged from discussions amongst our attendees and panellists.

The event aimed to bring together scholars and practitioners working on HRBA and human rights law to facilitate dialogue on the content and promise of HRBA in protracted conflicts. The aim was to take stock of existing knowledge, evidence, and understanding in this area of research, and to share knowledge and insights across academic and practitioner communities to better navigate the relationship between HRBA and human rights law in protracted conflict. The event was co-organised under the auspices of the University of Glasgow’s “International Law Under Pressure” research programme (PI Dr Henry Lovat).
